May 5, 2008 -
Mere Mortals Facing Cancer, 7:00 p.m.-8:30 p.m. at the Allen County Public Library theatre.

May 8, 2008 - Upcoming Nutrition Seminar is scheduled for Thursday May 8, 5:30-7PM at the Healing Arts Center at CSNI. Presented by Mischa Bassett, Clinical Dietitian-Oncology from Lutheran Hospital. This informative presentation will present information that is relevant to healthy people, as well as people with cancer and their caregivers.

May 29, 2008 - National Cancer Survivors Day 7:00 p.m.
Join Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana and the Embassy Theatre for Celebrate Life, a performance headlined by cancer survivor and motivational speaker Heidi Kramer and recording artist, singer-songwriter and pianist Kerri Sherwood at the Embassy Theatre. Together they bring a powerful performance blending original music, stories and song. The program supports and encourages cancer survivors and inspires people to live life to their fullest.

Special Events

Cancer Service has many sponsorship opportunities, there are two types of fund raising events.  The first is an agency sponsored event. The second is an event hosted by an organization in which Cancer Services benefits from the proceeds raised.  

National Cancer Survivors Day - Save the date: May 29th 7:00 at the Embassy Theatre
Two components; 1) a celebration for cancer survivors, open to the entire community.  2) Sunday magazine supplement professionally produced to highlight cancer survivors and physicians. Click here to view last year's Celebrate Life Magazine.
 

An Evening of Sharing, A Lifetime of Caring - Fall
An evening gala where each table is named in tribute of an individual who has been touched by cancer, a caregiver or physician.


 Alvin & Madeline Strauss Foundation Educational Symposium 
This educational seminar regarding cancer is for medical practitioners in the community. The topic varies depending upon the most recent developments in prevention, treatment, and patient care. Each year a regional or nationally recognized expert in the field delivers a keynote address.

This year’s presentation was, “New Therapies in Cancer Care”,  held on Friday, April 11, 2008. Topics/Presenters included: Cyberknife, Marc Apple, MD; Robotic Surgery, Erik Weise, MD; Biological Therapies, Leslie Edgar, RN, FNP; Symptom Management, Barbara Gard, RN,OCN; Cancer Survivor Panel, CSNI Clients. 4.5 CEH’s were available for nurses and social workers.

6th Annual Lapper - A walk to support all those affected by cancer in northeast Indiana. This year over 125 walkers met at Foster Park to participate in this special event.  On Saturday, April 26, 2008, a cold blustery day the Lapper was reborn as a special walk for people with any kind of cancer diagnosis. All proceeds remain in northeast Indiana to help local people in the communities we serve. 


 Friends for Lunch
A one hour Open House held the 4th Friday of every month from 11:30- 12:30PM. Designed for those interested in learning more about Cancer Services. Includes a light lunch, tour, and brief question and answer session.
