Personal Advocacy

The professionals at Cancer Services understand that a diagnosis of cancer is a life-changing experience. Therefore, each client receives the individualized support of a personal client advocate who works with the person with cancer as well as the family.

Our advocates are all trained professionals with a minimum of 4 year degrees. Their specialties include social work, addiction counseling, pastoral counseling, gerontology, financial counseling, therapeutic recreation, and nursing.

When clients walk in our door for the first time they meet with a client advocate to talk about their diagnosis, treatment plans, family and support systems, needs and fears. Their advocate will help them access additional programs at Cancer Services as well as other resources in the community that may be needed.

Personal caring and support is the hallmark of what we do.  Here is what some of our clients have said:

"Cancer Services has helped us feel less alone throughout this journey."

"They gave me peace of mind."

"Thank you for making a scary situation with my mother easy to talk about. You are a godsend."

"In times like these it was great to be helped now, not tomorrow."
