We know that behind every person facing cancer there are others (partners, children, siblings, friends, and many more) walking the path too—quietly, lovingly, and often carrying a busy and emotional load.
That’s why we’re creating new programs just for caregivers—to give them the resources, encouragement, and compassion they need and deserve. We’re here for your support network just as we are for you.
CANCER SERVICES PROGRAMS AND EVENTS FOR CAREGIVERS
People who support someone with cancer or other illnesses can often feel isolated, overwhelmed, and lost. Building community with other caregivers and care partners, learning more about the illness affecting their loved one, and taking time to care for themselves well can make a positive difference for all caregivers and those they are caring for.
Cancer Services already offers a number of programs which are open to people who support others. These include:

One-to-one support with a Client Advocate or counselor

No-cost relaxation massages (for the primary caregiver of a person in treatment)

Therapeutic music groups and sound baths

Educational sessions provided by local subject matter experts

Art workshops

Weekly movement classes, such as Tai Chi and yoga

As we add more programs for caregivers, you’ll see them here!

Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana is proud to support PBS Fort Wayne as they air a new documentary, Caregiving.

Bradley Cooper is an executive producer of the documentary. He experienced a caregiver journey after his father was diagnosed with cancer.
The documentary is centered on the personal experiences of caregivers providing for loved ones and the challenges and triumph they face each day.
As the number of caregivers declines, and the number of individuals requiring care in our country increases, the challenges grow. Caregivers require differing types and levels of support. At times, the burdens of caregiving can seem unbearable, regardless of resources. The “needs gap” for information may be greater for caregivers than it is for care recipients. The film will explore these issues and shine a light on innovation for 21st century caregiving.
Tune in for the local broadcast premiere:
Tuesday, June 24
9-11 p.m.
